BAS WAFELBAKKER, DMD Dr. Wafelbakker was born in the Netherlands and grew up on the island of Aruba in the Caribbean. He returned to the Netherlands to attend dental school at the University of Amsterdam and graduated in 1983 with the highest of honors. In August of 1983, he moved to the United States to study Orthodontics at Temple University of Philadelphia. After graduation, in 1985, he moved to California where he met Dr. Kenneth Bell in Gilroy. Dr. Bell's outstanding integrity, great orthodontic capabilities and true love of people encouraged Dr. Wafelbakker to take over his practice when he retired in August of 1988. Due to the large number of our patients who reside in Hollister, Dr. Wafelbakker decided to open a satellite office there to accommodate their needs in 1990. In 2000 he opened our Morgan Hill office. Dr. Wafelbakker is a member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists, California Dental Association, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists and the Santa Clara County Dental Society. He started and founded the Interbay Orthodontic Study Group. He met his wife, Ingrid, while attending dental school in Amsterdam. They have been married since 1986 and have three beautiful children, Tess, Lucas and Hope. When not making beautiful smiles, he enjoys gardening, working in his vineyard, triathlons, and supporting his children in their many activities. He also enjoys skiing, scuba diving and windsurfing. Dr. Wafelbakker says, "If I had it to do all over again, I would not change a thing. Orthodontics is the greatest profession in the world. You meet so many young people and watch them grow up. It is so rewarding to see that great smile at the end of treatment." Chris Anderson, DDS, MSD Dr. Anderson grew up in San Martin and graduated from Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill.
